Epithalon (AEDG, Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) is a synthetic tetrapeptide analog of epithalamin, a peptide extract of the pineal gland. The longevity thesis is that it reactivates telomerase, the enzyme that maintains telomere length, potentially slowing cellular aging, while also normalizing melatonin and circadian rhythm. Telomerase activation and telomere elongation have been shown in human cell culture.

The evidence leans heavily on one research group

Most of the foundational data (telomerase, telomere, and rodent lifespan work) comes from Prof. Vladimir Khavinson's St. Petersburg group. Independent replication was scarce for two decades, though a 2025 study did reproduce telomere lengthening in human cell lines. Human lifespan/anti-aging claims remain largely observational and not independently confirmed, treat the longevity benefits as promising but unproven.

Better sleep is the most consistently reported effect

Users most reliably notice improved, deeper sleep (plausibly via melatonin/circadian regulation). The dramatic anti-aging claims are the least verified part; the sleep and circadian effects are the part most people actually feel.

Not hormonal, not anabolic
