Its weight-loss effect is modest relative to semaglutide or tirzepatide (a head-to-head trial, SUSTAIN 7, showed semaglutide produced roughly twice the weight loss). Structurally it is the GLP-1(7-37) peptide fused to a human IgG4 Fc fragment, which extends its half-life enough for once-weekly subcutaneous dosing. It produces appetite reduction and modest weight loss as a class effect, but less than semaglutide or tirzepatide.
Important Warnings

Weight lost includes muscle unless you fight for it
Like all GLP-1 agonists, dulaglutide works by cutting appetite, so people eat less of everything, including protein, during weight loss. A meaningful fraction of the weight lost can be lean tissue unless resistance training and high protein intake are maintained. For a physique, the muscle you keep is the muscle you defended.
Milder weight loss than semaglutide or tirzepatide
Dulaglutide is an effective diabetes drug but a modest weight-loss agent, trials show roughly 5 lb (about 2-3 kg) average loss. In the head-to-head SUSTAIN 7 trial, semaglutide 1.0 mg produced about 6.5 kg of weight loss versus about 3.0 kg for dulaglutide 1.5 mg. If weight loss is the goal, semaglutide or tirzepatide is stronger.
Weekly dosing comes from the Fc fusion
Dulaglutide is the GLP-1(7-37) peptide fused to an IgG4 Fc fragment. That fusion resists DPP-4 breakdown and slows clearance, which is what allows a single subcutaneous injection to last a full week.
Not anabolic and not WADA-banned
Dulaglutide works through satiety and glucose control, not any performance pathway, and GLP-1-class agents are not on the WADA Prohibited List. It does nothing to build or hold muscle. Training and protein do that job.

Approved doses are 0.75, 1.5, 3.0 and 4.5 mg once weekly (the higher 3.0 and 4.5 mg doses were added in 2020). Start low and titrate up to limit GI side effects. This is a long-term therapy, not a short "cycle."

GI side effects are dose-dependent and usually improve with continued use. Titrate slowly, eat smaller meals and stay hydrated. As with any satiety-driven weight-loss agent, keep protein intake high and train with resistance to protect lean mass. Contraindicated with a personal/family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN 2.
