Why this rating?

BPC-157 is derived from a protein naturally found in human gastric juice. While it accelerates healing of tendons, ligaments, and gut tissue through angiogenesis and nitric oxide modulation, it does not affect hormones, strength, or muscle mass. Effects are therapeutic/recovery-focused rather than performance-enhancing. No PCT required. Extensive animal data but limited human clinical trials. Rated 1 (basically natty) because it only restores you toward baseline through faster healing. It does not raise the muscular/physique/performance ceiling by any path.

A peptide derived from a protein found in stomach acid with profound tissue-healing properties. Used for healing tendons, ligaments, gut inflammation, and various injuries.

The local half of the 'Wolverine' stack

BPC-157 + TB-500 is the classic 'Wolverine' healing stack. The division of labor: BPC-157 is typically injected near the injury for site-specific tendon, ligament, and gut repair (local angiogenesis + growth-factor signaling), while TB-500 works systemically throughout the body. Running both is meant to cover local and whole-body healing at once.

FDA restricted it in 2023 (Category 2)

In 2023 the FDA placed BPC-157 on its Category 2 bulk-substances list, barring licensed compounding pharmacies from legally preparing it, supply shifted almost entirely to the unregulated research/gray market. Its 503A bulk-substance status remains under FDA review and may change. Note it is a common name, not an official USAN, which the FDA flagged as its own risk.

Healing, not performance: and not hormonal

BPC-157 does not touch the HPTA, does not aromatize, and produces no direct muscle, strength, or fat-loss effect. It works by accelerating repair (angiogenesis, nitric-oxide modulation, local upregulation of growth-hormone receptors in tendon). That is why it rates a 2 on the natty scale, genuinely useful for recovery, but not an anabolic.

The evidence is almost all animal

The dramatic tendon/ligament/gut-healing results come overwhelmingly from rodent studies. Controlled human trials are minimal, so real-world dosing and efficacy are extrapolated from animal data and community experience, the enthusiasm currently outruns the clinical evidence.

General Mitigation Strategies

BPC-157 has an excellent safety profile. Use sterile injection technique. Side effects are rare and mild. Largely unstudied in humans, though animal data is extensive.

How It Works
